Kevin Coffman is an AgTech Advisor with BioGenerator Ventures. His core focus is sustainability systems including carbon sequestration, CO2 utilization, carbon markets, and sustainable agronomic systems including soil health, water quality, cover crops, nutrient management and biomass utilization.
Prior to joining BioGenerator, Kevin was a 23-year veteran at Monsanto (and then Bayer), a multinational agriculture company focused on seed and chemistry technology solutions for growers. His career experiences span sales, marketing and brand management, operations, manufacturing, commercial development including early technology pipeline product advancement and value capture through Discovery, Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, and pre-Commercial Launch. In addition to corn, soybean, cotton, and vegetables crops, he helped lead commercialization in livestock including dairy milk production and a novel bovine pregnancy test.
Before retiring, Kevin helped lead corporate sustainability strategies to achieve a Carbon Neutral footprint at Monsanto. He served on the Board of Conservation Technology Information Center focused on soil health cropping system, the Board of the MidWest Row Crop Collaborative (including Walmart, PepsiCo, Kellogg, Cargill, The Nature Conservancy) working to improve sustainable supply chains, collaborative soil research projects with USDA Agriculture Research Service, commercialization collaboration with John Deere, Archer Daniels Midland and Monsanto for biomass utilization, collaboration with Ford, GM, Chrysler/Stellantis, and Toyota for low carbon fuels using high blend ethanol, and co-lead of the Soil Health Partnership with the National Corn Growers Association focused on capturing multiyear, soil health economics in 100+ field scale test locations and 300+ site-years of data.
Kevin received his M.B.A. from Washington University, St. Louis, MO and Agricultural Economics degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia, MO. He is a former Certified Crop Advisor. His family farms in Northeast Missouri raising row crops and livestock. He is also an active alumnus of the National FFA Organization preparing youth for leadership and careers in the science, business, and technology of agriculture.
